QUIZ TIME: Test Your Condom Fit Knowledge - ONE®

QUIZ TIME: Test Your Condom Fit Knowledge

Did you know ONE® Condoms has been around for 20 years? We’re passionate about condom technology and creating products that fit and feel amazing.  Seven years ago on October 16th, 2017, we launched an extension of the brand called MyONE® Custom Fit™ with 52 condom sizes! For those who struggle with the standard condom size not fitting correctly, MyONE®’s got you! MyONE® helps solve common condom fit challenges like slippage, squeezing, bunching, erection loss and the dreaded “red ring of death.” From XL condoms to snug fit condoms, we’ve got peels to fit all bananas.

For our MyONE® Birthday, we launched a quiz to test people’s condom knowledge. In case you missed it, check out the questions and answers below to learn a lil’ more about proper condom fit

Question 1:  Condoms only come in standard and XL size. True or False?

Scroll down to find out…..

Standard and XL Condoms

FALSE!

Tell me more:

Most condoms on the market are "standard size" or extra large. But since 2017, MyONE® Custom Fit™ has offered 52 sizes -- with more sizes than any other brand. While lots of people use standard sizes successfully around the world, some penises just need a different fit. Custom fit condoms help solve common condom fit challenges like slippage, squeezing, bunching, and erection loss when condoms are too tight. That's why MyONE® offers 10 length and 9 girth options for a total of 52 sizes.

Question 2: What’s the most common condom fit challenge?

  1. Condom is too loose
  2. Condom is too tight
  3. Condom is too short
  4. Condom is too long

Scroll down to find out…..

Are you wearing someone else's condom?

4. Condom too long!

Question 3: Regular condoms are too long for:

  1. 52% of condom users
  2. 58% of condom users
  3. 73% of condom users
  4. 91% of condom users

Scroll down to find out…..

Regular condoms are too long for 91% of condom users

4. Condoms are too long for 91% of condom users!

Question 4: If a condom is too long then it can ___

  1. Bunch up and constrict at the base of the penis
  2. Slip off during use
  3. Break due to friction
  4. All of the above

Scroll down to find out…..

Condoms that are too long can cause discomfort through slippage, breaking due to friction, and bunching at the base.

4. All of the above!

Tell me more about penis and condom length:

In a study by Indiana University about penis size, 91% of people had a penis shorter than the length of a regular condom. Most condoms are around 7 inches long, yet the average penis is around 5.5 inches long.

Because penis length varies a lot from 1 inch to 12+ inches, the standard condom length originally was developed to be longer than what most people need -- so that condoms could at least be long enough for most people. But that's kinda like making a shoe that's long enough for most feet.

And yes, you can roll the extra condom length. However, that excess latex can bunch up at the base causing constriction and discomfort. This can make a condom feel really tight. Or the extra latex hangs at the tip of the penis, which is uncomfortable. Like one customer said, "Regular condoms are 3 inches too long so it feels like I'm wearing pants that are way too long. Sure they work, but I'm definitely not comfortable or confident." This is why condom fit matters.

That's why MyONE® Custom Fit offers 10 length options from 4.7 to 9.3 inches. We’re hoping to one day bring shorter sizes to the range, because we get lots of requests for condoms shorter than 4.7 inches. Currently we are limited by condom testing standards, which sets limits for how long/short and wide/snug condoms can be. Fun fact: Condoms are a medical device, so there’s lots of testing and regulatory control for the product. But that’s a whole other blog. 🙂

Question 5: What is the best way to determine your MyONE FitCode (aka size code)?

  1. Comparing with a friend
  2. Measuring both length and girth with a measuring tape
  3. Measuring both length and girth using a MyONE® FitKit®
  4. Picking a random combination of letters and numbers

Scroll down to find out….

MyONE® FitKit®

3. Measuring both length and girth using a MyONE® FitKit®!

Tell me more:

You might be asking yourself, “how to find the right condom size?” While comparing your tool with a friend can be a fun Saturday afternoon activity, we have some more scientific options so you can get your best condom fit. Our FitKit® measuring tool will tell you your precise Length Letter and Width Number at the blink of an eye, which becomes your FitCode. For example, you could measure your shaft circumference to be Width Number 45 and your shaft length to be Length Letter C; therefore, your FitCode is 45C. The MyONE® FitKit® condom size guide system is easy to use, and we have Size Specialists who can help answer questions.

We also say the FitKit® is best because a lot of people don’t have a measuring tape at home – unless you’re a carpenter or seamstress. However, if you do prefer to use a measuring tape (or a piece of paper and a ruler), you can enter those length and girth measurements on our website, and we'll tell you what your FitCode is.

No matter which way you measure, make sure to get the 2-count sample kit before you buy. You’ll be prompted to select that once you enter your FitCode or measurements on one of the pages above. That way you can test your size before you buy a 12-count or 36-count.

What happens if a condom doesn't fit properly? If you measure for pleasure, test out the sample kit, and find out it’s not quite the right size – no worry! Contact us and our Size Specialist will recommend and send a sampler of another size, based on your experience.

No time to measure? You can also check out the MyONE® Quick Samplers in the Snug, Classic & Large range

Question 6: Condoms are too tight for __% of condom users

  1. 20% of condom users
  2. 45% of condom users
  3. 70% of condom users
  4. 80% of condom users

Scroll down to find out….

Regular size condoms are too tight for 70% of condom users.

3. Condoms are too tight for 70% of condom users!

Question 7: If a condom is too tight it can cause:

  1. Erection loss
  2. Discomfort and squeezing
  3. Painful purple rings after sex (aka the “red ring of death”)
  4. All of the above

Scroll down to find out….

If a condom is too tight, it can cause discomfort by erection loss, the "red ring of death," and more.

4. All of the above!

More about condom girth:

A common condom complaint is that condoms feel too small and snug. What people often mean is that the circumference/girth of the condom is too tight for the penis. This can result in breakage, instant erection loss, constriction, discomfort, or the dreaded "red ring of death" (when the condom leaves a purple ring on the penis like a rubber band does on a wrist).

Extra Large condoms on the market are often longer, but not much wider, than a regular condom. And condoms are already too long for 91% of people. So often an extra large condom can feel even tighter than a standard condom, because the extra length now causes extra constriction at the base.

And yes, condoms do stretch. But putting a condom on an arm (or another large object) that is SOLID and thus can withhold a lot of pressure is much different than the anatomy of a penis. A penis already works so hard to maintain an erection. When a condom is simply too tight in girth, it can cause many challenges. We always highlight the importance of proper condom fit for preventing breakage.

On the other hand, proper condom fit is important for how to avoid condom slippage. Although standard condoms are too tight for 70% of people, many people find condoms too loose. This can result in slippage, increasing the risk of exposure to unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

That's why MyONE® offers condoms for different sizes, including 9 girth/width options from Super Snug to Super Wide.

Question 8:  Which of the following lubricants is NOT safe to use with latex condoms?

  1. Silicone-based lubricant
  2. Oil-based lubricant
  3. Water-based lubricant
  4. Hybrid water and silicone lubricants
ONE Move lubricant clear bottle with metal cap

3. Latex condoms cannot be used with oil-based products.

Tell me more about personal lubricant:

Only silicone, water, and hybrid lubricants are safe for use with latex condoms. Oil-based lubricants (lotions, coconut oil, etc) degrade latex, causing the condom to break. Check out our ONE® lubricants to enhance your intimacy! Move® is our super-long lasting, medical-grade silicone lubricant. Oasis® is our easy-to-clean, lightweight, hydrating water-based lubricant. Oasis Silk ® is our easy-to-clean, long-lasting, pH-friendly hybrid lubricant that gently moisturizes and lubricates. All our lubricants are paraben-free, gluten-free, condom compatible, and vegan-friendly.

Question 9: If the penis has a foreskin, how do you measure?

  1. Always retract the foreskin back before you measure length and girth
  2. Never retract the foreskin back when you measure length and girth
  3. Measure your penis in the state it will be while using the condom

Scroll down for the answer…

Foreskin

3. Measure your penis in the state it will be while using the condom!

Tell me more about foreskins and condom fit:

Measuring tip: Measure your penis in the state it will be in while using the condom. If you retract your foreskin while using a condom, make sure you measure with it retracted. Similarly, if you have a longer foreskin and you do not retract it, make sure to include it in your measurements.

To promote safe condom use, a key component of sexual health, we need to close what we call the “Foreskin Gap” in modern sexual health and condom education. Our survey for Foreskin Day (4/4/24) informed us that 79% of people with a foreskin have experienced difficulty using condoms. Of those respondents, 27% reported that condoms bunched up in their foreskin, creating friction and leading to slippage and even breakages. Learn more about foreskin education here.

79% of people with a foreskin have had difficulties using a condom

Question 10: What's the first retail store to carry MyONE® Custom Fit™ in-store?

  1. Walmart
  2. CVS
  3. Walgreens

Scroll on down for the answer….

MyONE® Condoms are available at CVS!

2. CVS!

Tell me more about CVS and Custom Fit Condoms:

CVS was the first to carry MyONE® in store! Since we couldn’t take over the entire CVS shelf (dare to dream!), we selected sizes that are not otherwise offered in retail settings. Most stores have the standard size and an extra large option already; therefore, people who need a condom snugger than a regular condom are not represented on most store shelves. That's why CVS currently carries two snugger options in a 10-count (FitCode 45D & 49F), and also the MyONE® Snug Quick Sampler. Fun fact: Our suggest size out of all 52 sizes is our #1 seller every month, showing the importance of providing condoms in a variety of sizes.

Question 11: When measuring a penis for the proper fit, do you measure flaccid or erect?

  1. Erect
  2. Flaccid

Scroll down for the answer….

Because condoms are used when a penis is erect, measure that way too!

1. Erect!

Tell me more about measuring while erect:

This is a question we get almost daily. Because condoms are used when a penis is erect, measure that way, too! :)

Question 12: Which of the following is NOT a feature of our MyONE® Custom Fit Condom lineup?

  1. Sensatex® Ultra-soft latex formula for better skin feel
  2. TotalGlide® premium lubricant process to ensure full lubrication
  3. Latex/Graphene composition to increase heat transfer
  4. MicroRoll® Base to increase comfort

Here comes the answer….

ONE® condom fit technology

3. Latex/Graphene composition to increase heat transfer!

Tell me more about graphene condoms:

Our proprietary latex + graphene material is only available with our ONE® Flex condom! Unfortunately that one does not yet come in different sizes, but fingers crossed for the future.

MyONE® Condoms (in addition to having 52 condom sizes) are hyperthin, extra lubricated, and made with our amazing Sensatex latex. But the MyONE® line does not yet come in different condom styles. Carrying 52 condom sizes has many benefits for improving condom fit and use -- but it is definitely also a challenge for logistics and manufacturing. But we're very excited to continue to improve our product offering, stay tuned for updates ;)
