In the late spring of 2017, VOX: University of Arizona chapter collaborated with ONE to host Project CONDOM, capping off a series of successful Project CONDOM events from the first half of the year.
Hosted at the Museum for Contemporary Art Tucson, the condom fashion show featured a variety of whimsical garments created by a talented group of designers.
According to Alex Ross, Co-Vice President of VOX at University of Arizona, VOX decided to host the event as a way to raise awareness about the need for Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) in the Tucson Unified School District. According to Ross, "although a policy had been passed almost 10 months prior [to the event], no curriculum had been insisted or even piloted since."
Through hosting Project CONDOM, VOX was able to increase their supporter base for both CSE and Reproductive Justice effort in Tucson. Furthermore, Ross noted that the event was particularly successful in that it drew an audience of both college-age students and adults. Consequently, Project CONDOM served as an educational experience that encouraged positive, cross-generational discourse amongst members of the community.
